WW 159: What Is Your Opinion About Yourself? - Solo Show

How do you actually feel about yourself? Most people don’t have a high opinion of themselves, and it’s usually because of the things that they’re avoiding in their lives, and they’re avoiding those things because they’re afraid of what other people think of them. In this episode, I’m diving into the reasoning behind this and why now is the best time for you to decide that other people’s opinions shouldn’t affect your life and your goals. Loving this episode? A Quick Recap from this episode

In this episode, I’m diving a little more into mindset and about how you feel about yourself. I want to dig into the idea that we put so much value on the opinion’s of other people.

Before you can get to how you feel about yourself, you need to identify why you do what you do. For what purpose are you doing certain things? Get specific and think about your goals, especially in your business. Do you know what you want? Think about that goal and determine what is getting in your way.

In order to achieve the outcomes we want in our lives, we have to take regular, consistent action, and develop new behaviors and habits. We know from a lot of work we’ve done on this podcast that our behaviors are driven from our emotions, and our emotions are always derived from our thoughts.

Look at the outcome that you want to achieve and identify the gap there. That gap usually exists because you’re not doing something - you’re avoiding action or doing the wrong action. Ask yourself “what could I be doing right now for my business/finances that I’m not doing?” Then as yourself what the reason is that you’re avoiding it. What is the emotion that’s driving that inaction and how can you bring that back to thoughts.

So often those root thoughts that are causing us to avoid action are based on us worrying about what other people would think. One thing that you should be thinking about is do you even know what other people are thinking about you or are you projecting those thoughts onto them?

Most people aren’t going to tell you how they feel about your goals unless you’re sitting down and talking with them about it. We usually just make up what they could possibly think of us. When we live our lives in accordance to pleasing everyone else, then we typically don’t reach our goals, because the actions and efforts we need to take are outside of our comfort zone and we’re afraid that people will think we’re crazy.

You need to ask yourself how you feel about yourself. If you weren’t you, would you want to hang out with you? People are going to feel how they want to feel, and you can’t change that. You get to decide how you feel about something, and so do they. When you’re constantly worried about how your actions will affect other people and you’re dictated by their opinions, you probably don’t have a high opinion of yourself because you’re not even allowed to be yourself.

You don’t know other people’s opinions of you, so those opinions you think people are thinking are all you, and it’s time to change them. It’s time to start being fully who you are, and reaching for your goals without shame or fear or anxiety about what other people will think. Stop avoiding those action items that you should be pursuing and decide that other people’s opinions no longer matter.

Repeat it with me: Other people’s opinions of me don’t matter. The only opinion that matters is my own.
